Last week, my boyfriend and I attended the launch party for London Porterhouse, a steakhouse and bar right in the centre of Teneriffe.
Whilst the name is a nod towards the history of the building, don’t mistake this place for a British-themed pub.
All the exoticness of Argentina and her neighbouring South American friends are showcased at London Porterhouse, thanks to General Manager Mercedes McVeigh’s fascination with the Argentinean culture and the guidance of chef, Mark Maric.
The focus is all about sharing food and drink together. It would be encouraged to share a bottle of Argentinean wine (all are organic!) and share plates of different cuts of meats, including pork ribs, all cooked on the parrilla (Spanish coal fire grill). Argentinean classics like empanadas, cerviche, grilled meats and seafood and Spanish-style desserts will be available. Steaks will be a highlight here, featuring different cuts from different Australian producers.
The food we sampled on the night was just a teaser to what is on offer. The food had big, bold flavours and the meat was cooked to perfection. I think the seafood will be very popular in the summer too – those oysters with pomegranate and lime were really fresh and light. There’s nothing like a summer BBQ and the outdoor dining area is great for this too.
Catching onto the love of the Aussie BBQ, London Porterhouse will also hold Sunday sessions once a month into summer featuring South American BBQ’s ‘al fonda’. They’ll also be having regular free BYO nights on Tuesdays!
Meanwhile, the bar inside is dark and cool – perfect for a place to beat the summer heat and enjoy a drink or two.
I’m expecting London Porterhouse will be very popular this summer!
